Article: Why I Refuse to Rush Our Oud Fragrance
Why I Refuse to Rush Our Oud Fragrance
by Vach Cittoni
Our upcoming oud fragrance will take much longer than some people expected — and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
When I started Vach Cittoni, I made a promise to myself that I would never release products just to satisfy timelines, trends, or pressure.
If something carries the Vach Cittoni name, it has to feel right.
Not decent.
Not acceptable.
Right.
That philosophy is exactly why this fragrance is taking time.
Oud Deserves Patience
Oud is one of the most difficult fragrance profiles to balance properly.
Done well, it’s deep, smooth, refined, and unforgettable. Done poorly, it becomes harsh, synthetic, and exhausting to wear.
I’ve tested countless oud fragrances over the years. Some smelled incredible for twenty minutes and completely fell apart afterward. Others projected heavily but lacked refinement once they settled into the skin.
That’s not what I want this fragrance to become.
I’m not trying to create something loud.
I’m trying to create something lasting.
We Could Release It Right Now
That’s the truth.
We already have versions that smell incredible, and most people would probably love them.
But “good enough” is where a lot of brands stop refining.
I don’t want to create a fragrance people wear for a few weeks before moving on to the next bottle.
I want to create something people connect with. Something memorable. Something they keep reaching for years later.
That takes time.
Every Detail Matters
Right now, I’m testing multiple scent profiles and paying attention to details most people would never consciously notice:
- how the fragrance evolves after hours of wear
- how it performs in heat versus cold
- whether the smoke feels refined or aggressive
- whether the balance stays smooth through the dry down
Sometimes a fragrance smells incredible at first and becomes tiring later. Sometimes one note becomes too dominant after a few hours.
Those details matter to me.
Probably more than they should.
But that obsession is part of what Vach Cittoni was built on.
The Goal Was Never Speed
And honestly, I learned that lesson the hard way.
When we released CEO Extrait de Parfum and Eleven Extrait de Parfum, we moved much faster than we should have. Looking back now, I honestly think we got lucky.
People connected with them far more than I expected, and I’m grateful for that every day. But as the brand has grown, my standards have grown with it.
That’s exactly why we’re now reformulating CEO and eventually; Eleven.
Not because they failed.
Because they deserve to evolve.
I’ve spent far more time studying fragrance structure, longevity, balance, and what actually makes a scent memorable long after the first spray.
That shift in mindset is directly influencing how I’m approaching oud now.
I’m no longer interested in rushing releases just to say something is finished.
I’m interested in building fragrances that fully represent what Vach Cittoni stands for.
And when this oud fragrance finally arrives, I want it to feel unmistakably Vach Cittoni.
